Welcome to the Track Houston Youth Track Club website. The club was founded in 1989 in Missouri City, Texas by Coach Johnny Dade and William Mitchell. Athletes who participate come from the suburbs and the inner-city of Houston, Texas. We are sanctioned by the USA Track & Field National Governing body and its local Gulf Association  for track and field, distance running and race walking. Our goal is to assist young people ages 6-18 who are interested in improving their physical fitness, mental stamina, and teamwork skills through organized track and field competition. Our nationally renowned club is one the largest and most successful youth track clubs in USATF. We measure our success not in size, but through the educational, social and travel experiences the athletes gain each season.

Track Houston continues to pursue excellence by developing top-notch training programs and retaining a knowledgeable, volunteer coaching staff. This dynamic combination has helped our athletes continuously excel at the National USATF Championships. The majority of our head coaches have completed the USATF Level 1 Certification and have adopted USATF training techniques. One of our club head coaches Joe Felder, has received the prestigious USATF Coach of the Year Award. In 2005, club president, William Valerie was selected as a coach for the 2005 TEAM USA World Youth Team. That summer Valerie traveled to Marrakech, Morocco with the team including Track Houston athletes LaRoya Johnson, Quin'Shundalyn McPherson and Nichole Jones to contest the IAAF World Youth Championships. At the 2006 USATF convention, Coach Valerie received Coach of the Year honors for the southern division.

Our summer track program has enabled our athletes to excel in high school programs with many earning university track scholarships. We encourage our high school athletes through SAT preparation, NCAA Clearinghouse enrollment, and communications with university track programs. In recent years our high school athletes toured University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, Texas Tech University, University of Houston, Texas Southern University, Northwestern Louisiana University, Rice University, Texas State University, University of Florida, UCLA, University of Tennessee, University of Nebraska, University of Oklahoma and Texas Christian University. There they received presentations in NCAA regulations, academic requirements, and participation eligibility from academic counselors. We encourage each athlete to pursue academic achievement first and athletic honors second. Please see our alumni section to view the outstanding accomplishments of our alumni athletes.

We invite you to join Track Houston Track Club and become a member of the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics Program. USATF's largest youth program is the Junior Olympics , where nearly 70,000 youth athletes compete in local, association, and regional meets to qualify for the Track & Field and Cross Country championships. This grass roots program is for boys and girls 6 to 18 years old with local meets starting in March ending with the Junior Olympics in early August.
